Follow Spock and the U.S.S. Enterprise crew in this rollercoaster of a challenge. More than ever, Spock must balance Vulcan logic and human emotion. But from ritual duels on Vulcan to space pirates holding Spock hostage, can the U.S.S. Enterprise crew prevail, and can Spock really bridge the gap between his two worlds?
Normally, I try to include in my progress posts on these challenges something personal about where I was at physically, mentally, or emotionally, during each challenge. I’m hard-pressed to do that today. I was going to write a little piece about appreciating Spock’s dilemma, with a foot in both worlds. I can certainly empathize with that, as I have felt my life straddling spaces that don’t seem to mesh well. I have stories, and normally, I’d enjoy sharing them. This last month, however, has been a barrage of emotionally explosive crap. I am eventually going to write about some of it, but for now, I will stick with the absolute basics: Spock’s line to Kirk in the face of death will choke me up any day, any time.
