London Virtual Challenge takes you on a 121 kilometre (75 mile) route through some of the city’s most colorful neighborhoods, starting from the historic town of Windsor, and making stops at Hampton Court Palace, the business district of Canary Wharf, and the political center of Westminster before finishing with the iconic London Eye on the South Bank of the River Thames.

I went to London, England about 35 years ago. The trip coincided with me losing a fair chunk of my eyesight in a span of 3 months, so although I had a film camera with me, I “focussed” it manually until I could see each image clearly… but when the film is developed, you can see how much my distance vision loss combined with an astigmatism to render each image in a kind of fog. Most of the time, you can hardly tell what I was taking a picture of. I do remember getting rained on every single day.

I’m having much better luck doing this walking challenge in the “other” London. We have a Thames river and everything, and this time, my eyes are working normally. Well, reasonably so. Lasik got rid of my glasses about a decade ago, but now age is making reading harder. You win some, you lose some.
